Fotoboden Haltbarkeit

The 2mm-thick, 1,500g/m² vinyl/PVC flooring can generally be used indoors or outdoors. Any small unevenness of the floor will be smoothed out well and in instances of noticeable bumps, simple subflooring can be used. Fotoboden is also suitable for under-floor heating and can withstand any typical household chemical.

Brandschutz & Rutschfestigkeit

Fire Protection/Slip Resistance

Fotoboden is classified as B1, the second-highest fire protection category in Germany (grade Bfl-s1, in accordance with European standard DIN EN 13501-1). With a classification of DS and an R10 slip rating, Fotoboden can be installed and used almost anywhere. Our certificates have been credited by German testing institutions. Here is some general information that is important to know: PVC certificates must also relate to the printing, because the application of paint influences its reaction to fire. In the event of any damage, a certificate relating simply to the vinyl/PVC will not be sufficient to make an insurance claim.

Fotoboden Reinigung

The cleaning is relatively easy and environmentally friendly (wet mopping). Fotoboden shows excellent resistance to household chemicals, is waterproof and UV resistant.

Vinyl and PVC flooring comes under the category of elastic floor coverings and as well as linoleum, it is one of the oldest types of flexible floor covering, having been manufactured for around 60 years. Fotoboden has a footstep sound insulation of 16dB and can be fitted with additional sound insulation as an under-floor. Therefore, Fotoboden offers not only a warm and soft underfoot feeling, but it is also highly soundproof.

PVC flooring comes under the category of elastic floor coverings and as well as linoleum, it is one of the oldest types of flexible floor covering. It has been manufactured for around 60 years and correspondingly, the possible variations in design and technical features are vast and varied. Every year in Germany, more than 60 million m² of vinyl flooring is laid. The most important property of vinyl and PVC flooring is the high mechanical and chemical durability.

Insurance note: All properties stated are tested by German inspecting authorities according to DIN standards and must be applicable to printed material. Please make sure when dealing with offers from “digital printers” that certificates do not pertain to the flooring manufacturer, but rather to the printed material, otherwise they will not be valid because the paint changes the reaction significantly.
Fotoboden is laid in the same way as any other vinyl or PVC flooring. It can be fitted with double-sided tape or fixed using an adhesive. The flooring is extremely robust, slip-resistant, resistant to UV light and of course water-resistant.

Fotoboden is laid just like any other vinyl or PVC flooring. The subfloor should be more or less even. You can adopt the following laying methods:

A) Loose fitting using double-sided tape (suitable for short-term use such as at exhibitions and events or in promotional areas in shops).

B) All-over PVC adhesion (recommended in large spaces and for long-term use such as in shops, in offices or at home).

C) Mixed-lay: This is where the edges are fixed with double-sided tape and the flooring is fixed additionally with a spray adhesive. This is an excellent way of securing the edges and further securing the whole surface: Recommended when you cannot or do not want to use glue on the whole surface, but want the flooring to remain for a long time and when it is exposed to sideward tension (when moving furniture, for example).

Trade Shows and Events

When being used at exhibitions, events and points of sale, Fotoboden can also be fitted with end profiles along the edges. This is a visually attractive solution, but it does involve higher costs (starting at around €5/m). For cut edges there are special transition and adaptation profiles. Edging must be fitted on stairs in particular, due to safety reason and the risk of tearing.

Shopfitting/Areas Open to the Public

There are many types of adhesive materials available for all-over adhesion. Due to reasons related to air safety, dispersion adhesives should be used for fixing floors. With these types of adhesives, the binding agent is dissolved in water. Solvent-free products (0% solvent) are state of the art and come with the “Blauer Engel” environmentally-friendly seal of approval. In general, dispersion adhesives rated GISCODE D1, to show that they are solvent-free or EMICODE EC1, which states that they are not harmful to the environment, should be used.
For joining onto walls, profile edges made from plastic are available, which can be easily fitted. Depending on the model, they are glued, screwed, slotted or nailed in.

It is also possible to seal your Fotoboden to ensure even more durability. For this purpose there are special PVC floor sealants. The liquid is easily applied and hardens within a day. –> Further information.

Simple Cleaning of FotoBoden

Dirt barriers considerably reduce the amount of effort needed to clean your Fotoboden and removing dirt regularly automatically makes it last longer.
The cleaning is relatively easy and environmentally friendly (wet mopping). Fotoboden shows excellent resistance to household chemicals, is waterproof and UV resistant.
Just like any other flooring, Fotoboden can also be damaged through hard or sharp objects. Coarse dirt (e.g. road salt and granulate in winter) should be avoided with long-term flooring.

Fotoboden PVC Recycling Verfahren

Fotoboden is completely recyclable. Following in-depth tests we have decided to use a sustainable system for recycling vinyl flooring. Using the most modern techniques, Fotoboden in Germany is completely recycled. The material left over during production, as well as all of our customer projects can now be completely re-used. The best part is that new vinyl flooring is manufactured using Fotoboden granules, which means that the reprocessing of our materials is a complete cycle.
